End of August update

Cicada molting on the deckPeter has been spending a lot of time like this, up on his
hands and feet. He occasionally scoots his way forward when
he sees something that he's not allowed to touch, but he hasn't
mastered the crawling yet. I'm expecting it to happen any time
soon, and then watch out!!Mom and I went to the classroom last week to help Mike set up some
new bulletin boards and make it ready for the new school year to begin.
Isn't that a nice bulletin board? :D
The washing machine is quite mesmerizing for him
Left alone with a cracker, 70% of it ends up in his mouth,
the rest scattered around the kitchen. My broom has become
my new best friend.
I love to eat Mom!

Back from the Cottage

After another week of holidaying, we are finally home again. We were gone for a week to a cottage with Mike's family just outside of Rondeau Park, just over 3 hours away from home. Although the weather was a little cool, we were able to get a few beach days in, along with walking, biking, relaxing, and lots of games. We celebrated Robert's first birthday while there, and it was fun to watch the two little boys playing together during the week.
We came back home yesterday to a green lawn (yay for good grass seed!), ripe tomatoes, lots of beans, and lots of laundry.

This little boy loves music!
We had a lot of fun swimming, just like at GrundyPeter was very intrigued by sand and had a blast playing in it
What is this stuff, anyways?
What's a day at the beach without tasting some of the local sand?

Grundy Lake Camping

We went up for a week to Grundy Lake to camp with my family. With some careful planning, we had a good drive both there and back - on the way there we left at 3:30 a.m. to beat the traffic and to let Peter sleep through most of the trip. We got to the campsite before my parents were awake, haha. Aside from a few thunderstorms and some cooler days, we had great weather and were able to enjoy some swimming, canoeing and fishing, as well as relaxation with family around the campfire. Although we didn't see any bears, the next campsite over had a bear visitor two nights in a row... yikes!

He was such a good camper! So was Aunt Danielle :)Mom and Dad
Gorgeous.... I miss it already!
On our way to the lake for some canoeing
Peter's first experience swimming went very well -
he had a lot of fun and wasn't scared at all
Coffee-aholic wannabe

For some reason, he loved having his face smushed up against the screen
in the dining tent - he thought it was hilarious and it sure treated us to
a hilarious view
Enjoying a gorgeous Grundy sunsetOma and Peter enjoyed some wild white-water canoeing
one day close to the campsite... Peter did an excellent job
paddling through the rapids and bringing Oma home to safety
Although he's not quite crawling yet, Peter is starting to get a bit
more mobile...trying to get his bum in the air, pushing himself around in a
circle, and moving backwards all over the place. Every once in a while
he'll roll over accidentally and this sends him into a fit of despair...
I guess he'll never be a roller. And so the trouble begins!
Getting into the games shelf... I'm going to have to audit the house
for child-friendliness
Here he's wedged himself under a kitchen chair... seems to happen a
lot these days. Doesn't look too upset about it though
