It's a gorgeous day today, and so far we've spent pretty much all of it outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. The lilacs are just starting to bloom, and the sky is filled with butterflies! I caught one in a glass cup so the kids could get a close-up look
Pretty intriguing!
I took this just as the butterfly was flying away
Perching on the lilacs
Sunning on the deck rail

yes rachel, there are a lot of these over here as well. they are atalantas. (vanessa atalanta)identified by someone on facebook , because it sure got the attention of a lot of people..Nice for the kids to enjoy them close hand. all these little creation lessons are so precious. momt
Thanks for the identification! Apparently they can also be called Red Admirals (I like that better :) ).
Today, as Dad & I drove home from Algonquin we were trying to figure out what these 'large' black winged insects were that were making a huge mess on our windshield .... So when we stopped I took a closer look at the 'debris' ... Sure enough .... Red admirals! We hit 100s!
Hope you had lots of windshield washer fluid! Interesting how there were so many of them even where you were driving!
I too like that name better. Must be bumper crop this year. Mom
So beautiful - great pictures, Rach!
