Easter Weekend

Over the Easter weekend, the Vander Deen side of the family came to our place for a visit and to celebrate Aaron's birthday.  Mom and Dad came in their RV and stayed Friday and Saturday nights at a campground in Niagara Falls, while Karen stayed at our place.  The rest of the family (minus Dave and Beth) came up on Saturday.  What a fun visit!  Friday was a bit dreary and cold but Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day, and we enjoyed being able to take the boys to the park while the guys played bocce.  Lots of fun!  I'm getting the feeling that I'm not particularly articulate or literative today so perhaps I'll just stop writing and make way for the pictures.  That's all you really want anyways isn't it?  Haha.
Peter and Aaron at the campground "hunting rabbits" in the gravel
It's never too hard to get a great smile out of this little one!
Aaron opening his birthday gift from Aunt Karen - books about fish!
Enjoying Grandpa's toque
Grandma and Grandpa gave Aaron a beautiful quilt for his birthday.
This morning, he was trying to eat the smarties off one of the squares, haha!
Bumper cars in the driveway!
Going on parade to the park!
Hi little cousin Derek!
Digging in the gravel
Everyone had fun, haha
Blowing out his birthday candles
I had too much fun making this birthday cake.  It was almost a
shame to ice it, it looked so pretty coming out of the oven!
Buuuut I iced it anyways.  What's a birthday cake without icing?
At the end of the day, Rub a Dub Dub, Four Boys in the Tub!

At least this time the icing didn't melt all over the place (didn't that happen for Pete's 2nd birthday cake??)

I think that's happened for most birthday cakes I've made :) I usually end up making two cakes, and one of them will be a flop. This was a post for you a few years ago regarding cake failures:
