Welcome, Aaron Michael!
Praise the Lord! We are delighted to announce the early arrival of our second child, a healthy baby boy we have named Aaron Michael! Aaron was born at 10:14 a.m. on April 14, weighing in at a healthy 10 lbs. Mommy and baby came home late afternoon and we have all been enjoying getting to know each other here at home. It is such a joy to finally be able to hold this little man in our arms!

Missed the month of March...
It's been over a month since I last posted and I have a ton of pictures to load up. March was a busy month, filled with appointments, meetings, report cards, outings and flooded basements. Mike has been incredibly busy with school, finishing up his report cards and organizing the Fine Arts Festival. March break wasn't too much of a break for him as far as that goes, although we did enjoy a trip to Ikea with family from Strathroy, and a trip to the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls with friends of ours.
We've spent more than an ordinary amount of time in the basement in the last little while, dealing with flooding from the spring thaw. This has been a bit of a puzzle for us, as we've had two previous springs in this house with no problems with water in the basement, and now we've had three separate incidents in the past few months down there. Thankfully nothing has been damaged since we put everything up off the floor in Rubbermaid containers last summer as a precaution, but it has been frustrating to not know exactly what the problem is. On the plus side, we both now own a pair of rubber boots and can go puddle jumping together when it rains.
Peter has been growing and learning. He enjoys climbing up on things and getting himself into trouble in all kinds of new ways. Look at me, Mom, I can stand on the back of the couch!! When he's in the mood he can babble and babble but he can get frustrated when we don't understand what he's trying to say. He's still not saying "Mommy", a source of no small frustration for his Mom when he says things for SNAKE and BABY and CLOCK and BALL. Someday! He has an infatuation for Mike's calculator, and if there's any marking going on at home, if he doesn't get to play with that calculator he can throw quite a fit. He certainly knows how to throw a tantrum, and can demonstrate a royal one when he has to come in from playing outside. He absolutely loves playing outside, and brings me his shoes often during the day hoping to go out. So many new things to learn about out there!
Baby has been growing well, and everything seems to be fine. Another three weeks to go until his or her due date, so it's all a waiting game now. The second crib is set up in Peter's room (well I guess it's the "kids" room now :) ) and the newborn clothes are unpacked and in the reorganized dresser. I am very much looking forward to this little one's arrival!
Well, on to the pictures... the first bunch are mostly in order from the past month or so, and the last bunch I pilfered from Karen's Facebook account and range from Christmas to our Ikea trip in the March break. Enjoy!
Peter refused to take any naps one day, and suffered for it at supper
time. Just couldn't keep his eyes open! He was snoring away and
we couldn't resist taking a few pics and a video.
Rice Krispies are WAY too hard to eat one by one. It is much more
convenient to vacuum them up off the floor with your mouth.

pictures, he looks like a bit of a punk!) so Mommy
gave him a fairly successful haircut
We went to the Butterfly Conservatory with some friends
and within a few seconds of walking in the door,
this large butterfly landed on Mike's head

There was a frog exhibit going on, with all kinds of neat frogs.
I think this was called a Moss Toad or something like that,
no wonder where they got the name!

Mommy was out for the evening at a baby shower, and Daddy
discovered some of Peter's baby clothes in the dresser...
looks like it still kind of fits?? Silly Dad..
I went with my Mom and sisters to see The Sound of Music
in Toronto. We loved it! This is us catching a bite to
eat before the show.

32 Weeks
I apologize for any misunderstanding you might have had - I didn't mean to cause any undue alarm with my post yesterday... we are still happily expecting a precious little one at the end of April! Yesterday marked a would-be birthday for another little one we never got to meet. Our Heavenly Father is abundant in loving-kindness and tender mercies, and we have experienced that greatly over the past year. We have been blessed with new life, and we are so excited to welcome a new little brother or sister for Peter in about 8 weeks time. Everything is going very well, baby is very active and growing well and we can't wait to see each other face to face!

online and was having a grand old time with his books
Uh oh... Daddy left his school books out for Peter to read...

I hope he doesn't get nightmares...

25 Random Things About Mike
1. I've had a snake poop in my shirt pocket on at least three occasions in the last two years.
2. I made $50 last week selling mice that live in my garage.
3. I've had a speaker deliver a presentation to my class about how the Dutch government repealed the law of gravity in 1944.
4. I am a descendant of Charlemagne, Charles Martel, Pepin the Short and Mother Goose.
5. In October I lost a 3 foot snake in my classroom and I haven't seen him since.
6. My new class snake is 3 feet long already and will get to be 5-6 feet when fully grown.
7. My medical doctor once sought advice about me from a veterinarian during an emergency visit.
8. I once had erysipelas, a deadly disease from a pig, which made my face swell up. I needed antibiotics administered intravenously after teaching every day for a week.
9. I've had a feruncle on my eyelid before.
10. I've burned off my eyelashes in class by looking into a methanol cannon and igniting it to see if it would work.
11. My mother once tried to light my hand on fire.
12. I once helped a friend paint his car like a holstein cow using Tremclad rust paint.
13. I have a scar on my bum from falling out a tree and landing on a manure spreader beater.
14. I am 6 foot 5.
15. I'm the second shortest male of my generation in my Mom's family.
16. My recurring nightmare is having all of my teeth snap off at the roots at the same time.
17. I enjoy inviting salesmen in to see how cheap I can get them to sell their product or services before telling them I'm not interested.
18. I've heard my Vietnamese neighbour threaten to eat my other neighbour's dog and our cat.
19. The first vehicle I drove with a manual transmission was a 1954 Chevrolet.
20. I know from experience that you cannot remove staples from your skull with a dinner fork.
21. The most expensive item I've purchased from Value Village was a geriatrics chair.
22. I've only been in a plane once. I flew it.
23. I've only driven a motorcycle once. I drove it into the side of a house.
24. On Valentines day in Grade 12, a friend and I made unique and personal valentines for every girl in our school.
25. I own a bicycle, but it's about 12 feet long so I rarely ride it.

8. According to family tradition, I like to eat my eggs with peanut butter
9. When I was learning how to ride a two-wheeler, I was afraid of the brakes and preferred to stop by driving into a tree
10. I've had a ride to the hospital in an ambulance
11. I've talked to Walter Gretzky and have his autograph
12. I know that staples and tape don't work well to repair ripped pants at work
13. I used to enjoy sitting on the roof of our house and reading
